Be sure to let all of the sped teachers who serve a student write input into the IEP PLEP (Present Level of Educational Performance) and Goal Pages.
In the PLEP, address performance for the past IEP year, the current year, and what should occur for the upcoming year. Also include information about performance in the regular ed classes, grades, MAP scores, and EdPerformance scores.
We are all supposed to be using the extended version of the PLEP. Rumor has it that the shortened version is "going away".
The minutes for each class at Reed this year are 250, including special ed direct instruction. The only exceptions should be speech and related services, unless it is a student in the district's Transitions Program.
Please review and update your caseloads - check for blank pages/sections, incorrect minutes, incorrect dates. Thanks!
Just a reminder from our first dept. meeting. It is everyone’s responsibility to read emails and check the calendar for activities involving the kids in their homerooms. Teamleaders from each grade have been asked to add all special ed teachers to their email distribution lists due to the fact that many of us teach multiple grade levels.
SUGGESTIONS:
Jennifer had a great idea about putting two asterisks (**) before any new information she writes in both the PLEP and Goals pages so that the teacher of record will know that it is new and has been done. With teachers from various areas adding and subtracting input, if we all used something like Jennifer, it would cut down on a lot of confusion. What do you think?
